French drummer Jean-Marie Corrois played with an African funk band and toured with a Brazilian band before moving to Paris in the mid 80s to study jazz. He kept a busy schedule of touring, club dates, and session work until moving to the United States in 2000. He worked for a Latin jazz group, among others, in Florida; since moving to Boston, he's lead his own jazz group (the JMC Quartet), backed singers, and currently plays for the reggae/worldbeat band Malabar. Here's a video montage of the JMC Quartet with special guest Amol Khanapurkar at Regattabar in 2011.

Amit Kavthekar began studying tabla at 6 with no less a teacher than the legendary Ustad Alla Rakha, and soon after was studying with perhaps the world's best known tabla master, Zakir Hussain. He has performed with many legends of Indian classical music both in India and in the United States. Locally, he also performs in other experimental contexts, including appearances with Natraj, Club d'Elf, and MC Kabir. Presently Amit teaches tabla at the American School of Bombay and at the New England School of Music. He also directs the Salem State University World Music Ensemble. Here's a video of Amit playing an extended solo tabla piece.
